AVALANCHE's mission is to blow up the eight mako reactors that ring the city. During a mission Cloud is separated from the others and meets Aeris Gainsborough in the slums.
With my demo kicking off with a flashback in Nibelheim that saw me control both Cloud and Sephiroth, Rebirth's recreation of some famous scenes really is a sight to behold. And with chapter 2 then taking me to Kalm - which is brought to life with more detail than ever before - my time with Rebirth came to a close in the first open area of the game in the Grasslands.
Also, not having the timer count down during the Scorpion Sentinel fight like it did in the original FFVII was because we felt that it gave a lot of stress to players who were not used to the battle system yet. So we decided it should start after the battle finished instead.
[18][19] The development team had initially entertained the idea of remaking FFVII across two games as opposed to three, citing the indecision on direction as being a primary reason for their lack of clarification on how many parts the remake would be. Kitase explained that this was due to the difficulties in determining development scheduling due to the lack of understanding regarding the project's overall scope.[20] The follow-up to Remake had begun active development by November 2019 prior to the game's initial release on PlayStation 4.[21] According to Nomura, the game was designed with newcomers in mind.[22]
He additionally expressed a desire to expand on the original game's depiction of Midgar for one game, wanting for players to explore various areas of the city that were previously inaccessible in the original, and with heightened detail due to the increased power of newer generation hardware. While Nomura understood the nostalgia behind the original game's story, he envisioned the game as a reimagining that would in turn, "get the fans of the original version excited".[16]
The game features real-time exploration and combat, with the overworld expanding into a more open-ended environment compared to the linear progression of Remake's Midgar. Objective markers appear in the heads-up display, highlighting main story quests and sidequests to complete along with their respective distances from the party in the overworld. In addition to walking on foot, the party can ride on Chocobos as a faster means of traversal by equipping the specialized Chocobo Lure Materia. Rebirth expands on the hybrid of action-focused melee combat and the Active-Time Battle (ATB) system introduced in Final Fantasy final fantasy vii VII Remake, in which the player takes control of a party composed of characters that can be freely switched between during gameplay.

The Materia system was decided upon by the team, where weapons and armor can be equipped with any Materia. It was decided the battles wouldn't be about characters with individual, innate skills, but that combat would change depending on the way Materia was used.
Both Avalanche and the cell's leader, Barret Wallace, embrace the ideals of planetology that posits that the planet is a living organism and that Shinra's harvesting of the planet's lifeforce will lead to the end of the world.
Minigames also happen outside of the Saucer. E.g. in Junon the player must perform CPR, participate in a parade, free Tifa from a gas chamber, and partake in a slap fight between Tifa and a Shinra antagonist.
I designed these together with several other designers. Some of the posters look like they were intended to spread the influence of the Shinra company in public spaces, and there are also some more generic ones.
Final Fantasy VII features more minigames than previously seen in the series, many of which are playable in the Gold Saucer theme park. Players can race Chocobos to earn prizes, and breed new Chocobo varieties that can traverse otherwise inaccessible parts of the map.
Cloud snaps out of the illusion and meets a woman selling flowers being attacked by invisible monsters. Unable to see the cloak-like entities until the woman grabs his hand for help, Cloud's reaction alerts the Shinra Public Security Forces. The woman flees and Cloud is chased by Shinra troops to the railway bridge from where he jumps onto the passing train, reuniting with the others.
